Indications
Generic Dozile Tablets (Doxylamine
Succinate) is an ethanolamine derivative
antihistamine. Because of its sedative
effect, it is used for the temporary relief of
sleeplessness. It is also used for the relief
of nausea and vomiting during
pregnancy. Generic Dozile is also used in
combination with antitussives and
decongestants for the temporary relief of
cold and cough symptoms.

Indications
It is an antihistamine with hypnotic,
anticholinergic, antimuscarinic and local
anaesthetic effects. Duration of action is
6 to 8 hours.

Active Ingredient
The active pharmaceutical ingredient
contained in Generic Dozile Tablets is
Doxylamine Succinate. Doxinate contains
Doxylamine Succinate 10 mg and
Pyridoxine HCl 10 mg. Doxinate Plus
contains Doxylamine Succinate 10 mg,
Pyridoxine HCl 10 mg and Folic Acid 2.5
mg. Doxinate OD contains Doxylamine
Succinate 20 mg and Pyridoxine HCl 20
mg.

Recommended Dosage
The recommended dosage for the treatment of
various indications is given below:
➔Relief of Insomnia: 1 tablet 30 minutes before
retiring, or as directed by the doctor. Maximum
stated dose should not be exceeded. Generic Dozile
is recommended for occasional use only i.e. for
periods of no longer than a week at a time. If
sleeplessness persists, consult your doctor. Generic
Dozile is not recommended for children under 12
years of age.

Recommended Dosage
➔For Relief Of Nausea And Vomiting During
Pregnancy: 2 tablets of Generic Dozile
(Doxinate / Doxinate Plus Tablets) at bed time, one
in the morning and one in the afternoon if required
or as prescribed by the doctor. Maximum upto 10
Tablets of Doxinate / Doxinate Plus Tablets can be
safely be given in divided doses.

Contraindications
Generic Dozile (Doxinate / Doxinate Plus
Tablets) is contraindicated in patients with
the following conditions:
➔Hypersensitivity to Doxylamine succinate, other
ethanolamine derivative antihistamines or any
inactive component of this medication.

Side Effects of Generic Dozile Tablets
The most common side effects of Generic
Dozile Tablets (Doxylamine Succinate)
are drowsiness, vertigo, nervousness,
epigastric pain, headache, palpitation,
diarrhea, disorientation, irritability,
convulsions, urinary retention or insomnia,
nausea with or without vomiting, and
abdominal pain.

Warnings And Precautions
➔Caution should be used if taken with alcohol.
➔Due to the anticholinergic properties of antihistamines,
caution should be used when Generic Dozile is taken
concurrently with other medications
➔Caution should be taken by those with narrow angle or
open-angle glaucoma, urinary retention, prostate
enlargement, pyloroduodenal obstruction, epilepsy or
severe cardiovascular disorders.
➔Doxylamine may suppress positive skin test results.
➔Doxylamine causes drowsiness. Patients should not drive
or operate machinery if affected.

Warnings And Precautions
➔Use of Dozile should be avoided during lactation.
First generation antihistamines may inhibit lactation
because of their anticholinergic actions.
➔Generic Dozile is not recommended for children
under 12 years of age. The safety and efficacy of
Doxylamine succinate as a night time sleep aid in
children younger than 12 years of age have not been
established.
➔Generic Dozile Tablets (Doxinate / Doxinate Plus)
should be administered during pregnancy only if
strictly required.

Overdose Symptoms
Generic Dozile (Doxinate Tablets)
overdose produces signs and symptoms
of anticholinergic toxicity. Acute overdose
of Doxylamine Succinate may cause
various reactions including dry mouth,
fixed and dilated pupils, flushing,
gastrointestinal symptoms, insomnia,
nervousness, euphoria, irritability, tremors,
nightmares and hallucinations

Overdose Symptoms
Other overdose signs and symptoms
may include CNS depression or
stimulation, impaired consciousness,
seizures, tachycardia, mydriasis and a
psychosis similar to that in catatonic
stupor. Rhabdomyolysis with impairment
of renal function and acute renal failure
has been observed.
Fatalities have been reported from
Doxylamine Succinate overdose.

14. Generic Dozile Tablets
Overdose Treatment
Patients should be monitored for any abnormalities
of vital signs. Adequacy of ventilation and blood
pressure should be assessed and full supportive
care, including oxygen and assisted ventilation, be
provided if required. The patient should be observed
for evidence of rhabdomyolysis.
Adequate fluid replacement must be provided and
good urine output maintained.
Gastric lavage should be considered if it can be
performed soon after ingestion, generally within 60
minutes. Most patients recover with symptomatic
and supportive care.
