3. Generic Zyprexa Tablets
Indications
Generic Zyprexa (Olanzapine Tablets) is an
atypical antipsychotic which is used in the form of
an oral formulation for the treatment of
schizophrenia as well as acute treatment of manic
or mixed episodes associated with bipolar I
disorder and maintenance treatment of bipolar I
disorder in adults and adolescents between the
ages of 13 to 17 years.
Oleanz tablets are also used as an adjunct to
valproate or lithium in the treatment of manic or
mixed episodes associated with bipolar I disorder
in adults.

4. Generic Zyprexa Tablets
Recommended Dosage
Generic Zyprexa (Oleanz Tablets) should be
administered on a once-a-day schedule without
regard to meals.
Schizophrenia in adults:
Start at 5-10 mg once daily;
•Target: 10 mg/day within several days
Schizophrenia in adolescents:
Start at 2.5-5 mg once daily;
•Target: 10 mg/day

Bipolar I Disorder (manic or mixed episodes) in
adults:
•Start at 10 or 15 mg once daily
Bipolar I Disorder (manic or mixed episodes) in
adolescents
•Start at 2.5-5 mg once daily;
•Target: 10 mg/day
Bipolar I Disorder (manic or mixed episodes)
with lithium or valproate in adults
•Start at 10 mg once daily

Warnings and Precautions:
There is an increased risk of death and increased
incidence of cerebrovascular adverse events in
elderly Patients with Dementia-Related Psychosis
The possibility of a suicide attempt is inherent in
schizophrenia and in bipolar I disorder
Discontinue and monitor closely in case of
Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome
Patients taking olanzapine should be monitored for
symptoms of hyperglycemia and undergo fasting
blood glucose and lipid profiles testing at the
beginning of, and periodically during, treatment.

Warnings and Precautions:
Potential consequences of weight gain should be
considered. Patients should receive regular
monitoring of weight.
Orthostatic hypotension associated with dizziness,
tachycardia, bradycardia and, in some patients,
syncope, may occur especially during initial dose
titration.
Leukopenia, Neutropenia, and Agranulocytosis has
been reported with antipsychotics, including
Olanzapine (Oleanz Tablets).

Warnings and Precautions:
Generic Zyprexa (Oleanz Tablets) has
to be used with caution in patients with
a history of seizures or having
conditions that lower the seizure
threshold.
This medication has potential to impair
judgment, thinking, and motor skills.
Observe caution when operating
machinery or driving.

is contraindicated in patients with a
hypersensitivity to Olanzapine or
any inactive component of this
