1. Andrea Levy’s name is noteworthy in the genre of migrant writing. Her novels are rooted in history. The history of the slaves and those who were treated in a humiliating fashion. Her portrayal of colour prejuduce is multi layered. The different hues of darkness gets mentioned in the works of Andrea Levy. This project deals with the theme of freedom presented in the novel The Long Song. The first chapter deals with Andrea Levy as a writer and her place in literature. It is titled “Andrea Levy”. The second chapter presents an insight in to the works of Andrea Levy titled, “Works of Andrea Levy”. The third chapter deals with an introduction to The Long Song. The fourth chapter is,”Slavery in The Long Song”. The fifth chapter is “Freedom in The Long Song” . The findings are presented in the conclusion. Introduction
