2. The brand identity of All American Rejects is the same through most of their songs. In this
single cover for “Gives you hell” there is lots of conventional
aspects. For example the clothes they are wearing are all dark
and the main singer is the only one in bright clothing. This
was the same as the other music video “I wanna” I analyzed in the
form of a Video moving image analysis. I looked at the music video
for “Gives you hell” and found that once again the lead singer
is the only one in bright clothes. Here we can see him wearing
blue skinny jeans and a very
bright leopard skin coat.
It contrasts with the other members of the band on the
single cover because they are all wearing dark colors such
as purple and black and he's wearing yellow. In the vinyl
single cover for the song the lead main singer is also bright
and stands out to the rest of the band. The reason why this
is done is because they want to create a
brand identity to the lead singer and show that he's the face of
the band.
3. The other ways in which we can tell that the lead singer is made to stand out and be point
of focus is that when the narrative stops and switches to the band performing he is at the
front and almost blocks out the drummer which shows he is defiantly the face of the band
and the band want to promote him so he's easily recognizable.
The setting of the music video also helps to add to
the band identity. Throughout the music video there
is humorous contrast with the normal everyday
setting and the band sitting around with their tops
off with visible tattoos and drinking beer. This is also
a common thing in their music videos which helps
add to the brand identity.
The outside
setting also helps
to create a brand
identity because
it involves lots of
people and
that’s common
for their other
music videos. It
gives a sense of
been involved.
