12. Pivotal Sentence
Pivotal sentences combine two kernel
sentences into one, longer, sentence. The
object of the first kernel sentence forms the
subject of the second kernel sentence.
Therefore, the first kernel sentence must be
a S-V-Obj sentence. The second kernel
sentence may have a variety of structures,
for example, there may be no object.

Finish the dialogue with Affirmative-Negative Question and 还 :
A : 你喜欢不喜欢… ?

40. 还: ‘ also; in addition’
还
indicates an additional or accumulated
action or event denoted by the verb, so
the subject is usually the same with the
former part of the sentence
e.g. 李友喜欢吃中国菜,还喜欢吃美国菜
。
41. 还 vs. 也
也
‘ too; also’
也 expresses the similarity of two parallel
substances, or the similarity of different things
e.g. 王朋喜欢吃中国菜,我也喜欢吃中国菜。
e.g. 王朋是医生,也是老师。
