This document provides information about an upcoming project called "Spread the Wings" that aims to help underprivileged migrant children in Guangzhou, China. It first gives background on the large immigrant population in Guangzhou and challenges faced by migrant children in education. It then describes a volunteer position through AIESEC to design lessons, document family lives, and organize events to raise awareness of migrant children's issues. The document also briefly introduces Guangzhou's scenic spots, culture like Cantonese dim sum, and transportation before listing some of the organization's previous projects.
2. Description
of the
Coming Project
Background
Guangzhou has a large immigrated population. These group of people
come to Guangzhou from other areas in Guangdong or other provinces
to find opportunities. They may have gained something from
Guangzhou but at the same time they may have paid much for this gain.
Many children of these families live in underprivileged conditions and
need help and care. They may feel excluded because they hold different
cultures, including accent, cuisine, festival customs and so on. They can
just study in migrant workers’ schools which lack of good and proper
education resources because they haven’t registered to be permanent
residents and their parents’ salaries are usually lower than the average.
