  1. Tim Riches DigitalMe, we recognise skills and achievements using Open Badges and then help people to show case these achievements across the web with the aim of opening up new opps for education, work, enterprise.
  2. We develop digital education programmes which have impact at scale. E.g. Safe (3k primary schools) – this involves the use of web platforms & open standards ALSO intensive face to face support with web platforms e.g. S2R, where YP digital skills & media skills – then put this to the test by creating content at live events for a web based sports reporting channel. Face a huge barrier to our work though – and why we’re working with Open Badges – recognising the skills and achievements which are developed outside of formal tests and exams – skills that OECD say are only

AT BEST – qualifications which buy them a ticket at employment lottery [google quote] So far away from what employers are looking for AT WORST – disenfranchises a significant proportion of learners & fails to represent their talents So how do we change a system that so established? That’s what want to talk to you about today Want to talk about how we can do this in a completely different way. Not by lobbying the government – governments never do anything radical – its too risky CBI, FSB, E-skills – all asking for better ways to credential learning.
