HMEF5023 – EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP
OBJECTIVE:
The assignment is intended to provide you the opportunity to conduct a research on moral
leadership in your organisation.
Select a school or organisation of your choice. The assignment is focused on the moral
leadership demonstrated by the leader of your organisation or head of your school organisation
concerned. The student is required to interview at least two senior staff members and refer to
documents and records for the relevant data.
QUESTIONS:
Read the article on “Moral leadership in schools” by Greenfield, William D, Jr, .Journal of
Educational Administration 42. 2 (2004): 174-196.
Question 1:
Explain in detail, using in your own words, the importance of moral leadership in an organisation.
Question 2:
In the above article, Shrag (1979) offered four ideas regarding what adopting a moral point of
view implies for a school administrator.
Interview two senior staff in your organisation to find out whether the leader of your organisation
demonstrates the four ideas.

Describe the procedure that you used to collect the data.
b.
Discuss in detail the perceptions of the two senior staff.
c.
What is your own opinion about the moral leadership practices of your leader?
