3. MISE-EN-SCENE
In comparison to the other characters, Bradley Cooper is
shown wearing a suit during the extract which represents him
to be of higher class/status
You could argue the remaining characters are wearing
considerably dark outdoor items of clothing, permitting the
reader to link the negative colours with their position within
society
You could argue the bright lighting is used to show the
severity of the violence
The setting used is within a busy area and in the background
you can see many onlookers, making the audience think that
this is an odd occurrence for people to stare. And also
enforcing the sense of realism that it is wi
4. SOUND
Non-diegetic, up beat repetitive sounds that engages the
audience is used, it also forwards the feeling of restlessness.
A sound bridges are used during two scenes prior to the actual
image of the sound source. The sounds display to the
audience the link in his thought process
Diegetic sounds of grunting during violence are there to
portray the level of power/pain emitted by every action.
Further diegetic sound is used of a train horn, to justify the
setting to the audience.
You could argue during flash backs the sounds of the
television is of very dif ferent sounds to the current goings on
allowing the reader to again justify that it is from a dif ferent
time
5. EDITING
Non-diegetic sound is used narrating over the screenplay to
allow the reader to hear what the character is thinking
The violence involves jump cuts to show the pace in which the
action is happening
There is a lot of non-diegetic punching, riping, kicking, falling
and dodging noises which are added in to help show the true
force in which is used during the scene
