I met some of you before the session. For those that don't know me, my name's Tom Resing. I'm a Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist in 4 areas related to SharePoint. I'm certified in configuring WSSv3, configuring MOSS, and application development for both of them.My first programming job was in high school in Washington, DC. I got my Computer Science Degree from Northwestern in Evanston, Illinois almost 12 years ago. I've been in the technology field my entire career.

When I created the demo in 2013 almost everything was the same. I got a few different messages like “This shouldn’t take to long” and “Working on it”, but otherwise, I followed the exact same steps in Central Admin to set up the service application and the exact same steps in SharePoint Designer 2013
Some backend changes that may improve performance in some situations. For example , sort requests are now sent to the external system which reduces the load on SharePoint Servers.
