1. How effective is the
combination of your main
product & ancillary texts?
2. Teaser Trailer
Ways in which our teaser was effective was the fact
throughout our teaser and ancillary texts we
included our signifiers and props which were
beneficial in our teaser as when audiences see the
props like the clown mask, gun, poker chips or the
hand of cards, they will associate these props with
our teaser. We wanted to include lots of shots of
these props as they help represent our film and its
genre to our audience. Also having these props
presented throughout our teaser and ancillary text
helps us to in force brand identity as this is very
important to companies when distributing a teaser
movie. So we knew it was important for us to use
interesting and unique props that would stand out
to our audience and so audiences see one of the
props they will associate the prop to our teaser. We
aimed to show many shots of our poker table and
money to give of signifiers of wealth. Plus the poker
table helps tell the audience more about what
would be involved in our film and that our film is
about gambling.
3. Poster
Our poster was effective in the fact we used
our main props which were shown
throughout our teaser. For example the
memorable mask and the antagonist holding
a playing card. We believed it was important
to show these props as it increases our
brand identity and wanted these props to be
associated with our film. Plus showing these
props helps represent and get across the
genre of our film. The simple playing card
held straight away tells the audience it is
something to do with gambling.
In the poster we added a logo which were a
hand of cards layered on top with a poker
chip and on fire. We put this behind our title
to make our poster even more interesting
and eye catching to our audience. Plus
having shown behind the title helps our title
to stand out even more to our audience.
4. Magazine
The clown mask was a main part of the
magazine as well as in the other 2
products. We wanted the mask to standout
so wanted to place it over the ‘Empire’ title.
For the magazine our aim was for our
Gamble title to be noticed first as we want
to ensure people can see the name clearly
and what we are advertising, then notice
the mask as this is our main prop in which
we have used throughout and helps
increase our brand identity. Another main
prop which is seen a lot in our teaser as
well is our gun prop. We wanted to use this
prop in our magazine as we believed it
was a good signifier and helps give across
the genre of our film to the audience. As
when you see a gun this would normally
give connotations of danger, action or
crime.
5. Branding
We wanted to create/ increase our brand identity as
we noticed this was a very important way in which
film companies advertise and market their films. One
way we created brand identity was by using the
same font style and colour for our ‘Gamble’ title.
Which was our own unique font style with a white
glow around the letters to make our title stand our
even more. As all the films we researched we found
their title was exactly the same in their teaser and
their marketing campaigns. As this is away for
audiences to recognise the title and straight away
associate back to our film. Another example in how
we created brand identity was our recognisable
scary clown mask the antagonist would usually wear
in our teaser, this mask was shown throughout our
teaser and ancillary texts. Helping us to increase
brand identity as when people see the mask they
will know straight away what the mask is associated
with.

presented as a main prop in our teaser and in our
magazine.

7. How effective were all 3 products?
I believe overall our 3 main products were effective as they all we able to
reinforce our brand identity. By the fact in all 3 products our ‘Gamble’ title
stays the same using the same font style and colour as having a different title
style for each 3 products will decrease our brand identity as audiences will
be unable to recognise our film through our title if our title is always
presented differently. We also showed our mask prop throughout as it was an
important prop used by one of the main characters in our film and helped
give away the genre to the audience as of the scary mask people would
assume this would be some type of action thriller. We also included signifiers
throughout all 3 products with the costume design we used with the
antagonist wearing a suit representing wealth in all 3 products and wearing
his scary mask making our film more interesting and mysterious to our
audience. Using these signifiers and reinforcing our brand identity through
the use of our props and title style throughout all three products. Makes our
film more memorable to the audience as when they are seen people will
straight away associate them with our film.
