Ten Minute Workout
1. Ten Minute Workout
There is no doubt at all that Tony Horton is a legend when it comes to home training fitness
regimes. The popular Power 90 and P90X training programs were his brainchild. But he has
many other fitness programs to his name, one of which is the 10 Minute Trainer.
This fitness program is exactly as it’s title claims. It’s a training routine designed for a 10
minute workout every day. It was created with busy professionals in mind, people who feel guilt
about finding the time needed to work out every day. This short 10 minute program condenses
a lot of effective workouts into simple 10 minute bursts of exercise.
Ten minute programs have become very popular in recent months, with Tabata programs
bursting onto the scene especially. Tabata is based on periods of intensity and speed followed
by a rest period to create an “oxygen debt” and burn fat very efficiently with just ten minutes as
opposed to a standard 45 minute workout. Hula hoop programs have also become very popular
with many people buying weighted hula hoops to improve strength and cardiovascular fitness.
It’s a great idea – just about everyone can find at least 10 minutes a day to work out and it
helps their overall health and fitness. However, is the program as good as it claims to be? Mr
Horton may be able to do many things, but we wonder if he is capable of getting people fit in 10
minutes a day?

The Pros of the Ten Minute Workout
Credible & Efficient
This is a very efficient and credible workout that many people would think is an impossible task.
Busy people, whether professionals or people whose time is taken up with their families, find it
hard to put the time aside to work out every week. Horton’s 10 Minute trainers combines a
series of 10 workout routines which incorporate all you need to get the strength of a good daily
workout.

3. There are resistance bands (Super Stracking Techniques, as Horton calls them) and these do
not focus on any individual muscle group. They involve a total body core workout that lasts just
10 minutes, which is pretty intense exercise to say the least, but they certainly make you feel
alive!
There is a choice of 10 minute workouts, lower body, whole body, cardio and yoga workouts
and each of them really start to get you working.
A Great Variety of Workouts
One aspect of the 10 Minute Workout is the user can customize it to suit their own individual
needs as well as abilities and limitations. A good example is in the yoga stretches which can be
combined with other workouts to make up a very effective warm up as well as cool off routine.
Each of the workouts is pretty intense as well as challenging. However, as Horton demonstrates
in the video, users can modify these if they need to. Users can work their way up to the full
workout in their own time and for most people this really would be necessary to do.
If you can only afford 10 minutes in your day to workout, the chances are you are not very fit to
begin with, so being able to adjust the routines is important.
Lots of Support
This is not simply a set of DVD workouts because you get much more in the package. This
includes a resistance band, a cardio belt, an exercise calendar, workout cards as well as a 10
minute meals guide.
Both the resistance band and cardio belt are valuable additions to the package. They are vital to
the efficiency of the 10 Minute exercises. One thing that’s good about these, is they can be
introduced gradually as you get fitter.
Although the calendar is not unique – these are provided with many other workout programs,
the workout cards are great. You can take the cards with you wherever you go even if you don’t
take the DVDs and still be able to workout for the 10 minutes you planned daily.
The meal guides are extremely useful and though not a comprehensive diet program, they do
give you some very useful tips about healthy eating as well as how to prepare meals that fit in
with a fitness plan you set yourself.
The Cons of the Ten Minute Workout
Not Suitable for Everyone
This is a workout program that people who don’t have a fitness routine in place will go for, yet
they may find it hard to understand many of the instructions. The exercises may take 10 minutes
3/4
4. to do, but it takes a lot longer to understand how to do them, initially that is. This is especially
true for newcomers to fitness programs.
Too Many Ads
You pay good money for these workout DVDs, so it is a shame they contain so many ads.
These are a very annoying feature about a product that sells itself on the name alone.
Is the 10 Minute Workout Value for Money?
There is one flaw in this product and this is that it will attract many unfit people to use it.
Unfortunately, the instructions are not that easy for newcomers to understand and get to grips
with. This is a very disappointing feature and a serious oversight by Horton.
The fact there are so many adverts in the DVDs is another real downside to the workout
program, it lowers the glossy finish of the product.
However, the 10 Minute Trainer works and if you commit to the system, you will get results. With
this said a 10 minute workout will never give you the same results as a full intensive exercise
program. The 10 Minute Trainer is nonetheless pretty impressive.Copyright
