When Google rolled out Penguin, SEOs had to
become makeshift PR agencies. I accidentally pitched a
blogger weekend promising top bloggers around the
US would come to a client’s resort and write about it.
• “Yo, anybody know any influential bloggers?”
• Manually researching bloggers and media members is as
awful as old school link building
• Boom. Klout integration on HootSuite, coupled with
follower information to the rescue
• Following bloggers, building a rapport by retweeting,
engaging in conversations and favoriting posts (all
through HootSuite) was key to building trust
• Bloggers have egos for days!
• 10 bloggers and 15 articles later the weekend was
deemed a success
