What is Coaching?
Coaching is primarily a short-term intervention
aimed at performance improvement or
developing a particular competence.
A process that enables learning and
development to occur and thus performance to
improve.

The International Coach Federation (ICF) defines coaching as,
“an ongoing partnership that helps [people]
produce fulfilling results in their personal and
professional lives and…deepen their learning,
improve their performance, and
enhance their quality of life”.

What is Mentoring?
Mentoring is often described as, "to support and
encourage people to manage their own learning in
order that they may maximize their potential,
develop their skills, improve their performance
and become the person they want to be.“
Mentoring involves skills transfer from a more
experienced to a less experienced person. It is a
'strategic approach to developing an employee
by pairing that employee with someone who is
more experienced who will teach, coach, counsel
and encourage the mentee' (Management Mentors,
2002).
