Cars, food, and flash mob draw crowds
Georgia Hockett and her 1956 Ford Thunderbird
hardtop convertible were among the
approximately 150 cars and 2,000-plus people at
this year’s sixth annual Car Show and Barbecue.
Georgia’s car was a wedding present from her
husband, Wayne, who was also at the show with
his 1965 Mustang.
“This is the best car show in town,” says Wayne.
“I like the atmosphere, sun, shade, and food. I’ve
been to all six car shows here, and Georgia and I
go to about 10 a year. I like this the best.”
Georgia also likes Touchmark’s show. “I think
the most wonderful thing is it gives residents the
thrill to see cars they used to drive,” she adds.
Georgia and Wayne were married in 2007. “She
said she always loved the ’56,” recalls (cont.)

Wayne, who bought it in 2008 and
finished restoring it in 2011. The car had 78,000
miles on it when he bought it; it’s close to 82,000
now. “It was meant to drive, and that’s what we
do,” says Georgia.
Highlights from the show:
• Best of Show winner and Luck of the Draw
winners: Gary Neal with the 1929 Mercedes
and Kenn Stinchfield with a 2007 Corvette
Z06 and Jack Larango with a 2008 Roush
Mustang 427.
• The event raised about $4,500 for Loaves &
Fishes.
• Flash Mob! Residents and staff started
dancing to Elvis Presley’s All Shook Up, and
soon the crowd joined the fun.
Mark your calendars: Next year’s show is June 21!

“I came to Touchmark 14
years ago looking for a place
to restart my business and my
life. Little by little, I worked my
way back from a very difficult
place in my life. I will be forever
grateful for the staff and all the
residents here at Touchmark
who have supported me and my
staff these past 14 years.
“I have been told by many
people that they love coming in
our salons, because everyone is
so friendly, and everyone truly
cares about the people they are
working with.
“I am also very proud of the
way my staff keeps the salon;
we have always received “A”s
on our state board inspections,
and that is because everyone
works together to keep both
salons clean and neat.”
-- Bonney Kratzer, Manager of
the Touchmark Hair and Nail
salons
Bonny and her team run two
salons at Touchmark that
are open a variety of hours
Monday through Saturday.
They offer waxing, manicures,
pedicures, and hair styling,
which includes cutting,
shampoo, coloring, and perms.
The ladies at the salon also
provide men’s haircuts, and
they have a licensed barber on
