3. Holden Caulfield -Holden is the main character. The reader follows Holden around his school, (Pency) and then around New York city. It is a wonderful trip filled with many surprises and lots and lots of people. -Holden is a teenager with lots of problems. His little brother died a few years ago and his older brother moved out to California. He also has many problems in school. He can’t seem to do well at any school he goes to.
4. More Holden -While Holden makes his mistakes and does a lot of things without really thinking, it seems that most people still like Holden. Some people have even offered to name their kids after him. Others think that he is a hero. -What do you think? If he is or is not a hero, why? Would you name your child after Holden?

6. New York -Holden goes to New York when he leaves Pency. He has many different experiences when he is in New York. Meets up with a hooker, gets drunk at a bar and gets beat up when he doesn’t pay the hooker what she wants. -Holden also meets up with Sally, his girlfriend, sort of. They go to a show and then skating. Then she gets him mad because she wants him to help her trim the Christmas tree and he doesn’t want too. He gets frustrated with her and goes to see some family.
7. Family D.B -D.B. is Holden’s older brother who went out to Hollywood to be a screenwriter. -He went to be a screenwriter and he ended up being a prostitute out there. -He used to be a good role model for Holden but then he became a prostitute and that was just another thing that went wrong in Holden’s family life.
8. Allie -Allie is Holden’s little brother who died a few years before this novel takes place. -When Stradlater asked Holden to do his homework, write a story on an object, Holden wrote it on Allie’s catcher mitt. When Stradlater didn’t like it Holden got mad because he really liked it and then he got punched. -Allie death seems to bring us to a point were Holden starts going astray in his life. His death really hurt Holden and it seems as if he can’t get over it.
9. Phoebe -She is Holden’s little sister, but by talking to her you would never know it. She is a lot more mature than she seems. -Holden goes to visit her to tell her that he got kicked out of Pency. She gets very upset at him for that. -They have a very close relationship for a brother and sister. She is the only person to get really close to Holden.
10. Conclusions Holden Caufield is one of the most unforgettable characters in any book. His experiences that he goes through and the people he meet are amazing. The way Holden acts draws the reader closer to any character that I know. Holden contradicts himself on so many levels but few people hold that against him. They find it funny and love the way he talks. What I just said is how I feel about the book. I would like to hear other opinions.
