Gorongosa National Park Wildlife Numbers and Tourism Updates

6. 2011 rates from US$440 per person per night sharing. Camp currently accommodates 10, capacity will increase to 12 in July 2011.
7. One night free special: From the 1st April – 15th July and from the 1st September – 30th November, we have a stay for 5 nights, pay for 4 nights special. Family special: From the 1st April – 15th July and from the 1st September – 30th November, parents pay full rates, 1st child pays 75%, 2nd child pays 50%, 3rd child pays 75%, 4th child pays 50%. If any child or adult wishes to have a single tent, the usual 50% single supplement applies. Minimum of 5 nights required. This special cannot be used in conjunction with the free night special.

10. The two Cabaceiras – Cabaceira Grande and Cabaceira Pequena – as the villages on the peninsulas are called, are beautiful and untouched. Also, these areas were once important outposts for the likes of Vaso Da Gama. These cities, steeped in history, enjoyed their “golden age” in the 17th and 18th centuries.
11. The people here have lived in complete isolation for nearly 100 years. This isolation has sheltered them from HIV and Civil War, but also made it very hard for them to advance.
