2. Qin's Importance
Dynasty: a succession of people belonging to the same family, who, through
various means and forms maintain power, influence or authority over the course of
generations.
During the Qin Dynasty, warring sections of what we now call
China were unified for the first time. Writing, measurements,
weights, currency and cart axels were all standardized, and
privately-owned weapons were banned. This, along with Shi
Huang's constant watch over the people, created unity and
prevented uprisings. Later dynasties followed a similar style of
rule.

6. Shi Huang
• Emperor of the Qin dynasty
• Also known as Ying Zheng
• He was the first emperor to unify
China.
• Made great advances in Chinese
culture and economy.
• Died at age 49

7. Li Si
• Li Si was the Qin Dynasty's
prime minister
• He was the center of state
policies, including the use of a
unified written script
• He persecuted ideas that went
against legalism
• Executed in 208 B.C.

9. The Great Wall
• Although Chin unified,
they faced threat from
the north
• Shi Huang ordered the
Great Wall to be built for
their saftey and to keep
the chinese busy
• Slaves and
criminals were
set to work on
this enormous
defensive
wall.
• Thousands died
building it.

10. Terra Cotta Army
• Shi Huang ordered
chinese craftsmen to build
an army of terra cotta
soldiers.
• They were built in Shi
Huang's tomb, along with
an underground city.
• These soldiers were meant
to protect Huang in the
after life.
• Every one of them is
different.
