The bald eagle has a blackish brown back and white head, neck, and tail with yellow feet and bill. They mainly eat fish but also carrion, small mammals, and food from garbage. Bald eagles live in forests, swamps, wetlands, lakes and rivers of North America from Canada to Mexico. They use their razor sharp beak and claws to catch fish and defend themselves, and parents take turns feeding and teaching their young to fly. Bald eagles have a wingspan of 3-4 feet and body length of 4-10 feet, with claws up to 40 inches long, and can live 20-40 years.
