2. CD Inlay Idea 1
This is a draft of the inlay
however the font doesn't really
stand out here and is not easy
to read therefore we decided
to use pictures which would be
more suitable for a CD inlay.
3. CD Inlay Idea 2
We derived this idea from the inlay of ‘Doowops and
Hooligans’, an album by Bruno Mars. It is very eye catching
therefore we thought to do something similar for our CD
inlay. However from the picture we took of our artist
Sandhya Acharya, the cartoon effect would not suit the
theme of her album.
4. CD Inlay Idea 3
We decided to use the idea for the 1st inlay cover ( the use of the quote)
because we felt that it separated our work from conventional inlay covers,
which usually have images of the artist. However we changed the actual
image, similar to the inlay of ‘Doowoops and Hooligans’. We added a drop
shadow and outer glow to the quote to make it stand out from the image.
5. CD Inlay Idea 3
The existing CD design above was very appealing and due to our music
video having a scene where she burns the letters, we thought it would be
a good idea to combine some ideas from the music video to the CD inlay.
Therefore , this idea of the burning letter would be well suited for a
design of an inlay. We took a picture of the letter burning and added a
custom painted mask to further shadow and darken the edges.
6. CD Inlay Idea 4
Instead of the letter for the
Inlay background where the CD
is places, we thought it would
be better for the background to
be a collage of the artist and the
guy in the music video to imply
that the whole album is about a
single guy whom she had a
history with. This would inform
the audience what her album is
based on and would also set
expectations on the overall
mood/emotions of both music
video and ancillary texts alike.
7. CD Inlay Idea 5
This is our final left inlay. Here
we have made changes to the
background making it black
and white. The change had
come about as in the previous
inlay we ha not edited the
background image and the
colours were very harsh. The
darker background allows the
artist to stand out.
