3. Goal 1 The district will develop a strong base of current and future library media specialists who are empowered to act as instructional leaders to help teachers change their teaching strategies to create 21st century learning environments
4. Outcomes: Outcome 1.1: By June 2012, library media specialists will exhibit the improved leadership abilities in increasing collaborative participation in designing rigorous and authentic curriculum by helping teachers develop instructional activities, formative and summative assessment strategies, providing expertise in choosing 21st century resources and materials to meet curricular goals Objective 1.2 By June 2012, district library media specialists will have recruited and mentored ? educators within the Racine School District to begin their library media degrees and replace library media specialists that retire in the near future.
5. Goal 2 Library Media Specialists will act as leaders in helping all students, regardless of race, gender, socioeconomic status, or English language proficiency, will be proficient in both basic literacy skills and 21st century skills in order to fully participate in a knowledge-based global society

Outcomes Outcome 2.1: Improved basic literacy scores (need some specific district benchmarks here- writing, adding of technology to produce products in new English Language Arts Standards) Outcome 2.2 By June 2012, Dimensions21 data will show improved scores in providing environments that support the students in developing the following 21st century skills: 1) knowledge age literacies, 2) inventive thinking, 3) authenticity and engagement of assignments in which students are producing high-quality work that is valued by peers, parents, and the community 4) multicultural literacy and global citizenship

Objective 2.3 By June 2012, Dimensions21 data will show improvement in the following areas: A forward-thinking vision for all learners that incorporates 21st century skills and defines what it means to be educated in a knowledge-based, global society Alignment of curriculum, instruction and assessment of 21st century skills Providing learning environments that motivates, interests, and scaffolds learning to help students to think critically Outcome 2.4:By June 2012 students will be given increased opportunities for online extended discussion of text meaning and interpretation
8. Goal 3 All students will be provided with 21st century tools in order to do authentic work which utilizes 21st century skills
