This presentation describes a process for planning both short term and long term goals by envisioning the ideal solution, then working backward to the current situation. By going through this process from the vision backward, you identify what is necessary to achieve the goal and not settle for something less than ideal.
2. IDEAL Visions Lead To Great Results Long term planning and a well thought out vision for the IDEAL leads to Great results Plans may extend well beyond the time of the founders of the original vision A solid vision and plan provides successors a path to continue toward a common goal
3. Current View to Better View To create the IDEAL vision requires being able to accurately assess the current situation. Current View of the Situation – CVS Better View of the Situation – BVS
4. Current View To see the Current View, requires the ability to accurately discern. Example: “City ‘X’ has an average of 2 miles of walking trails per park.” The more accurate CVS may be that there are only two of six city parks with walking trails.
5. Better View CVS: Two of six city parks have walking trails. BVS: Build walking trails in the remaining four parks.
18. Based on the list of steps, set benchmarks toward achieving IDEAL.

20. Creating a Vision Resources and technology have increased exponentially in our lifetime, and will continue to do so in the foreseeable future. Don’t be bound by limitations in current technology, and resources. Dare to dream…BIG…REALLYBIG
22. Owasso Lake Take the Bailey Ranch Lake and envision an IDEAL based on 10x the current situation. Imagine a 100 acre lake stretching from 86th St. North to 76th St. North …with anamphitheater, residences, restaurants, shops…
23. Owasso Lake A lake with beautiful parks and trails...
24. Owasso Lake A lake that significantly impacts the quality of life for residents and sets Owasso apart from competing cities.
25.
26. Developers must have completed a mixture of high density residential, restaurants, shops and commercial businesses along the perimeter of the lake.
37. Owasso of the Future. We as a community have an opportunity to set the course for Owasso for the next 100 years, or more. Failing to act now could impact Owasso’s ability to reach a goal of becoming a truly Great city.
