2. 1. Physics of induction heating
■ Alternating current, that flows through a coil, leads to a time
dependent magnetic flux around that coil.
H
■ The magnetic flux creates eddy currents in a work piece that is
located inside the coil .
■ The penetration of the induced current depends on the frequency.
■ Eddy currents are generated by the electrical resistance of the
work piece.
3. 2. eldec history
■ 1982
Founded in 1982 by Dipl. Ing. Wolfgang Schwenk. eldec develops and manufactures inductors.
■ 1993
The product range continues to expand: eldec develops and supplies the first HF and MF
generators with IGBT semiconductor transistors.
■ 1998
Founding of eldec Induction USA. This facility markets all eldec products, assembles generators
and offers all services for the American markets, Canada, Mexico and South America.
■ 2000
Supply of the first SDF ® generators. A patented technology which is mainly used for truecontour inductive surface hardening of gear wheels.
■ 2004
€11 million turnover with the two facilities.
■ 2006
Completition of a worldwide unique pilot hardening system with a 3000 KW SDF® - Generator.
