"There is a gate in Paradise called Ar-Raiyan, and those who
observe fasts will enter through it on the Day of Resurrection
and none except them will enter through it. It will be said, 'Where
are those who used to observe fasts?'
They will get up, and none except them will enter through it.
After their entry the gate will be closed and nobody will enter
through it."

Allah's Apostle (P.B.U.H) said, "Allah said, 'All the deeds of Adam's sons (people)
are for them, except fasting which is for Me, and I will give the reward for it.'
Fasting is a shield or protection from the fire and from committing sins. If one of
you is fasting, he should avoid sexual relation with his wife and quarreling, and if
somebody should fight or quarrel with him, he should say, 'I am fasting.' By Him in
Whose Hands my soul is' The unpleasant smell coming out from the mouth of a
fasting person is better in the sight of Allah than the smell of musk. There are
two pleasures for the fasting person, one at the time of breaking his fast, and the
other at the time when he will meet his Lord; then he will be pleased because of
his fasting."

said, "It is not righteousness that you fast on a journey."

Prophet (P.B.U.H) said (that Allah said):
"For every good deed that the son of Adam does, he will
have (the reward of) ten the like thereof, except for fasting.
It is for Me and I shall reward for it.

"There are two joys for the fasting person: the joy when he breaks his

Mutarrif, from the tribe of Banu ‘Amir bin Sa’sa’ah narrated that ‘Uthman bin
Abul-‘As Ath-Thaqafi invited him to drink some milk that he poured for him.
Mutarrif said:“I am fasting.” ‘Uthman said:
“I heard the Messenger of Allah ()صلى ال عليه وسلم say:

‘Fasting is a shield against the Fire just like the shield of anyone of

“Whoever gives food for a fasting person to break his fast, he will
have a reward like theirs, without that detracting from their reward
in the slightest.”

When any of you hears the summons to prayer while he has a
vessel in his hand, he should not lay it down till he fulfils his
need.

The sunnah for one who is observing i'tikaf (in a mosque) is not to
visit a patient, or to attend a funeral, or touch or embrace one's wife,
or go out for anything but necessary purposes. There is no i'tikaf
without fasting, and there is no i'tikaf except in a congregational
mosque.

Look for (and in the words of Waki, seek) Lailat-ul-Qadr in the last ten
nights of Ramadan.”

Hamzah bin 'Abdullah bin 'Umar (R.A)narrated that his
father(R.A) said
جرْ ر فَ لْ را لَ بْ رقَ عْ ر مِن جْ ر يُاو مْ ر لَ نْ ر مَ لِن مَ يناَ صِن الَ ِن
"Hafsah, the wife of the Prophet (وسلم عليه ال )صلىsaid:
'There is no fast for the one who does not intend (to fast)

It was narrated that 'Aishah(R.A) said:

نَ ضناَ مَ رَ رَ يْ رغَ الً َغ مِن كناَ طُّ قَ راً َغ هْ ر شَ مَ صناَ الَ وَ حِن بناَ صَّو ال تىَّوحَ ةً َغ لَ يْ رلَ مَ قناَ .
"I do not know that the Messenger of Allah وسلم عليه ال صلى
recited the whole Quran in one night, or prayed Qiyam until
morning, or ever fasted an entire month, except Ramadan."

Narrated Abu Huraira (R.A):
Allah's Messenger (وسلم عليه ال صلى ) said,
" هِن بِننْ رذَ نْ ر مِن مَ دَّوقَ تَ مناَ هُاو لَ رَ فِنغُاو بناً َغسناَ تِنحْ ر واَ نناً َغمناَ إيِن رِن دْ ر قَ لْ را ةَ لَ يْ رلَ مْ ر قُاويَ نْ ر مَ .
"Whoever establishes the prayers on the night of Qadr out
of sincere faith and hoping to attain Allah's rewards (not
to show off) then all his past sins will be forgiven."

"The Messenger of Allah (وسلم عليه ال صلى )enjoined Sadaqatul Fitr,
a Sa' of barley or a Sa of dates or a Sa' of cottage cheese.“

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar(R.A):
that he was asked about a man who had vowed that he would fast
all the days of his life then the day of `Id al Adha or `Id-al-Fitr
came.
`Abdullah bin `Umar said(R.A): You have indeed a good
example in Allah's Messenger(وسلم عليه ال صلى ).
He did not fast on the day of `Id al Adha or the day of `Id-
al-Fitr, and we do not intend fasting on these two days.
