you want a holiday filled with activities and things to do or just want somewhere to chill out and do
nothing, Italy has it all and more. Here are just a few of the different types of holidays in Italy you could
choose…
Skiing & snowboarding
The north of Italy is fantastic for skiing and snowboarding. The Alps stretch right across the north of the
country, and also into seven other countries including Germany, France and Switzerland. The Alps also
contains the Dolomites mountain range, which sits in the north east of Italy. The north west of the
country has the Alps which stretch through into France and Switzerland, whilst the north east has the
Dolomites; both of these areas have some of the most popular skiing resorts in Europe, accessible to both
beginners and experts. There are several well-known ski resorts in the Alps, including Courmayeur,
Cortina d’Ampezzo, Bormio and Livigno. From beginners’ slopes to black runs to après ski, Italy is one of
the premier skiing destinations in the world.
City breaks
Most European countries have one great city, often their
capital, which lends itself perfectly to a city break for a few
days. Italy, on the other hand, has a handful. Probably the
most obvious city to mention is Rome, the country’s
capital. Rome has an enormous amount to see and do; you
could easily spend an entire week there and never be stuck
for something to do. From the Vatican City to the
Collosseum and Trevi Fountain, Rome is undoubtedly one
of the most culturally rich cities in Europe, if not the world.
Then you have cities such as Milan, Florence, Venice, Turin,
Verona, Naples, and more. There are few countries in
Europe that can rival Rome for city breaks.
Beach holidays
If you’re hankering for some ‘R & R’, then an Italian beach holiday could be the perfect choice. Most of
Italy is on the coast, with the Mediterranean, Ionian and Adriatic Seas all providing crystal clear waters
around the coast. There are some fantastic beaches in Sicily, Stintino, Levante, Tropea, and Baunei, whilst
famous cities such as Genoa and Naples are also right on the coast. The real difficulty here is deciding on
a place to go; they’re all beautiful!
Holiday homes
Booking a holiday villa or owners direct in Italy is one of the best ways to experience the country. You
have a tremendous amount of freedom to see the country how and when you want and you can retire to
your own personal little haven at the end of the day. There are countless places to book villas in Italy,
from the north of the country, right down to the bottom. Tuscany, Campania, Liguria and Abruzzo all have
numerous stunning villas, whilst the islands of Sicily and Sardinia are also popular destinations. Lakes
Garda and Como are also fabulous places to visit and are a favorite of holidaying celebs.
