               means of maintaining a common culture.”

“The Noble task of Bridging the gap between people as
      the Quintessential humanistic enterprise.”

What do We mean by Translation?

    -----“To carry Across from one Language in to another.”

                  text in another.”

  “Translation is the Wandering Existence of a text in a
                     Perpetual Exile.”
                           ----J. Hillis Miller.

      William Jones Translation of Kalidas were Motivated by 3 reason:


1. Since Indian were not the Reliable interpreters of their own laws
    and culture, translation was an immediate requirement for the
                              Europeans.

2. Europeans wanted to „Purify‟ Indian Culture and speak
on its behalf”.


3. Europeans wanted to be Law giver to Indians.
