Founded in 1929 as a chemical manufacturer in
East Rutherford, NJ. Primary products were:
Sodium Hydrosulfite
Sodium Formaldehyde Sulfoxylate
Zinc Formaldehyde Sulfoxylate.
Diversified into other industries in 70s:
Manufacturing Zinc Oxide from Zinc Carbonate by-
products
Built a Zinc powder plant for captive use and alkaline
battery market.
Purchased Passaic Color and Chemicals in order to expand
into the dye business serving Textiles, Plastics, Paper, and
Leather markets.
Started plastics reprocessing and compounding business
3. STRATEGY SHIFT FOR THE FUTURE
Started to exit the manufacture of old line
products in US:
Sold our Hydrosulfite plant to Virginia Chemicals, division of
Celanese.
Sold our Zinc powder business to Noranda Corporation.
Developing new technologies:
Started manufacturing micronized waxes for ink, coatings, and
plastics industries.
Started manufacturing Color Concentrates for Plastics industry.
Formed Royce International with a focus towards Asia.
Increased emphasis on development of new products using
reductive chemistry.
4. ROYCE GLOBAL PRESENCE
Initiated raw material sourcing from Mainland China and India in 1970s.
Developed close manufacturing partnerships with chemical plants in China
and India.
Transferred technology to manufacture products to meet Global quality
standards.
1n 1996, established a Technical Center in Tianjin, China to support quality
control and interface with manufacturers.
In 2009, formed RP International, a JV with Palmer International to
manufacture amine curing agents.
1n 2011, started a JV plant for manufacture of RoyceVAT Liquid Dyes in

In 2012, major capacity expansion at Skippack plant to be completed by

announce the launch of its Roycevat Liquid Dye line.
Building on over 80 years of experience, the
Roycevat line of Liquid Vat dyes are globally
recognized as the highest quality, most sought after
products for use in dyeing of cotton and cotton-
blended fibers.
It is Royce’s unique ability to produce Liquid
Vat dyes at high concentrations that separates us
from the competition. Today, Roycevat Liquid Dyes
command 70% of the US Market.

CURRENT MARKET U.S.A
Roycevat Liquid Dyes are used in the U.S.A.
at all continuous dye and printing houses.
The U.S.A. market is producing high-end
technical textiles.
99% of all U.S.A. dyehouses exclusively
consume Vat dye liquids.
U.S.A. dyed fabric is globally considered
the benchmark for quality.

9. Environmentally Friendly
Roycevat Liquid Dyes,generate only 25% of the
wastewater normally generated by traditional Vat Dye
Powders. And, this wastewater is readily
biodegradable, therefore the dyeing mill's pollution
treatment costs are much lower.
Roycevat Liquid Dyes reduce employee exposure to dust,
and improve factory environment.
Roycevat Liquid Dyes are commonly used with
automatic dispensing systems. This significantly
improves dyeing consistency and limits employee
exposure in the dyeing factory.

Roycevat Liquid Dyesare ground and filtered to a
specification of 97% <1 micron, and 100% <3
microns. Because of this very small particle, the dye is
bonded with the fabric stronger, so the yield and
wash-fastness are improved. Therefore less unfixed
dye remains in the waste water for treatment.
Roycevat Liquid Dyesrequire up to 50% less sodium
hydrosulfite and caustic than typical vat dye powders.
Roycevat Liquid Dyes contain very little dispersing agent,
and require much less dispersing agent during the
dyeing process. This saves costs, and greatly improves
the quality of the wastewater.

12. SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE
Roycevat Liquid Dyes are ground and filtered to a
specification of 97% <1 micron, and 100% <3 microns,
which make the yield improved and the shade purer.
Roycevat Liquid Dyes have extremely good dispersion,
therefore dyeings are typically more even and the cloth is
better penetrated.
Roycevat Liquid Dyes
are easily dispersible, there is little or
no loss of product in the mix tank. Traditional Vat Dye
Powders do not easily disperse leading to losses of up to
60%, and inconsistency of product strength and shade.

13. SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE
Roycevat Liquid Dyes are standardized using extremely
tight tolerances for total color difference. This greatly
improves dyeing mills production quality.
Roycevat Liquid Dyes are standardized both on cotton and
polyester – this improves the consistency of polyester
dyeing.
Roycevat Liquid Dyes can be finely filtered; this decreases
the problem of specking on dyed cloth.

shades using less dye.
Roycevat Liquid Dyes penetrate the fabric
better, and this leads to greatly improved
wash fastness.
Roycevat Liquid Dyes migrate less because
of the very small particle size. This greatly
improves side-center-side shading, and gives
better color control.

15. Benefits for Vat Dye Printing
Roycevat Liquid Dyes are being used to print
upholstery, camouflage and outdoor fabrics.
In camouflage printing Roycevat Liquid Dyes
have been formulated to emit the target I.R.
reflectance.
Roycevat Liquid Dyes eliminate the need for
the dyeing mill to dissolve the vat powder
therefore they are more efficient and
consistent.

16. Benefits for Vat Dye Printing
Roycevat Liquid Dyes are formulated with
consistent viscosity therefore printing paste
quality has little variation.
This Consistency leads to better control of
penetration and less bleed through.
The print paste will have less of a tendency
to dry out. This is because of our special
formula.
