1. What kind of media institutions
might distribute your film and
why?
2. Film Distribution
• The process of making a film available for
home or cinema viewing by their target
audience.
3. Hollywood Films
• Large budget to spend on distribution and
marketing. It is difficult for people all over the
world not to see advertising by the big
Hollywood film makers through all their ways of
advertising, such as trailers, adverts, billboards,
posters, apps etc…
• Audiences all over the world can access
Hollywood films, Due to the worldwide
advertising and publishing resources.
• ‘The Big Six’
Columbia, Paramount, 20th
Century Fox, Walt
Disney, Warner Brothers and Universal.
4. British films
• Small budgets compared to big Hollywood
film budgets (around £5 million rather than
Hollywood which is about £300 million).
• Independent British films usually have
multiple distributors which means that
there will be many ways to get their films
shown for free, like at film festivals and
social networking.
5. Our Film
• Working title would hopefully want to be the
company to distribute our film because they
produce high budget films up to about 30 million
which is the budget we would want for our film
as we would want high end A-list stars to cast in
it. Working title is owned by universal studios, a
large conglomerate, that is also American so
they would be able to hire the big stars a lot
easier than small British companies would.
