2. League of Legends
League of Legends, also
known as LoL, is one of
the most popular free-to-play
MMORPG games
in the world. The game
was released in 2009
and was the best
multiplayer game of that
year. According to a
recent survey, there are
nearly 67 Million active
users of League of
Legends, out of which
27 million play daily.
The game play is a bit
like capture the flag.
Each player chooses
one out of the 118
champions, each with
unique attributes, and
teams up with others
champions to battle
other champions, both
human and computer
controlled. The aim is to
destroy the other team's
"nexus," a central
building within a larger
defensive structure.
3. Guild Wars 2
The second
installment in
the Guild Wars series
enjoys enormous
popularity and is one
of the greatest
MMORPG games
released for the PC.
Published by NCSoft,
Guild Wars 2 has
460,000 daily users
and as of August
2013 has sold 3.5
Million copies.
Guild Wars 2 is
unique in that its
storyline is
responsive to player
actions - a common
feature of single-player
RPGs, but not
MMORPGs. Rather
than the typical
quest/mission
structure, there is a
"dynamic event
system," where
players can approach
quests in a number of
different ways.

5. Entropia Universe
Developed by
MindArk, a Swedish
gaming
company, Entropia
Universe was
released in 2002,
making it one of the
older MMORPGs.
That said, it's still
incredibly fun to
play. One of the
neat things about
this game is its
model of micro-payments,
where an
in-game currency,
Project Entropia
Dollars or PEDs can
be purchased and
traded back into US
dollars at 10:1
exchange rate. This
means that items
acquired in the
Entropia Universe
have an actual,
real-world cash
value!

or Wow, is the most
popular MMORPG
game in the world.
