International Coastal Cleanup is one of the largest volunteer events in the world where people clean up trash and debris from beaches, rivers, and oceans annually on the third Sunday in September. Over the past 30 years, more than 6.6 million volunteers have removed nearly 53 million kilograms of debris from coastlines in 127 countries. Data collected from the trash helps identify causes and sources of marine pollution to educate the public on prevention. The Coca-Cola Company has supported International Coastal Cleanup for 12 years as part of its water stewardship initiative, with over 900 volunteers from Asia Pacific units participating in 2007.
