2. To encourage believers, who were facing fearful
suffering and give them Hope.
To do this he reminded them of:
their future inheritance(1:4-5)
that suffering is for a purpose(1:6-7)
that JESUS also suffered(2:21).
• Peter exhorts them to be faithful to Christ in the
midst of these bitter persecution whenever they come
(1:12).
3. To provoke the Readers to live of holiness, love,
growth and testimony (1:12 - 2:12)
To call for humble submission of believers in all
earthly relationship which included civil
authorities(2:13-17), Servants to masters (2:18-
25), wives to husbands (3:1-8) and submit to
leader of the church with humble attitude.

deliverance which GOD wrought for his
people when he brought them out of Egypt.

The Christian is the man who Trust but at
the same time puts all his effort and all
his vigilance into the business of Living for
Christ.

Every words tells us something about what suffering
is designed by GOD to do for a man.
a) Through suffering GOD will restore a man.
b) Through suffering GOD will establish a man.
c) Through suffering GOD will strengthen a man.
d) Through suffering GOD will settle a man.
