Tan Son Nhat Airport was first constructed in the 1930s by the French Colonial government as

the Vietnam War, Tan Son Nhut Air Base was used by both the United States and the South
Vietnamese Air Force (VNAF).

located 4 miles (6 km) north of the center (District 1) of Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon).
