For over 2 years we have continually expanded our major initiatives. 2012 was the year that we focused on scale and integration; so in 2013 we’re excited about taking these solutions to market:
Smarter Content - Capture, Activate it socialize it analyze it and govern it
Smartest Cities - incorporating public safety with social programs and using technologies to help drive growth and anticipate problems before they happen.
Smarter Commerce - new capabilities around buy market sell and service, we launched this in 2011 and continue to expand and grow and lead the market.
Law Enforcement is often at the top of city expenditures.
Couple that with the inefficiencies of intelligence and the phases the intelligence often working in silos.
With i2 products and solutions, we bring together all phases of the investigative, analysis, visualization and communication process and link together all the critical roles by pulling in data from all sources. Enabling all levels in the intelligence cycle to virtually share within and across organizations.
Key Message: Smarter cities today are using technology to enable new models for leadership, for delivering citizen centric services that help drive sustainable economic growth.
Smarter cities are cities that both within and across these systems are:
Leveraging information to make better decisions
Anticipating problems to resolve them proactively, and
Coordinating resources to operate effectively
These are simple ideas, but the latest enhancements in technology have created possibilities that were unthinkable just a few years ago… for example:
We can now harness more information from ever before, from our systems, from video cameras, and even from physical parts of our city. A US city put more than 100 wireless sensors underneath manhole covers throughout the city to measure waste water flows to manage storm events.
We can anticipate problems using analytics capabilities that are much more detailed and precise than previous models. For example, we can now predict how traffic patterns will change in real-time, providing very detailed models that enable cities to adjust traffic flows to minimize or avoid congestion
And finally, we can coordinate resources by driving both communication and processes to the right people at the right time based on process automation, collaboration, and business rules.
These developments have fundamentally increased the value that cities can generate for their citizens and enable innovation in the ways city leaders operate and put citizens at the center of decisions and investments.
Key Message: The acquisition of Cúram extends IBM’s leadership in Smarter Cities with a strong focus on citizen-driven social and health services that enables timely access to the right programs, effective delivery of such programs, and improved outcomes to ensure citizens are getting the promised benefits while reducing the cost of delivery.
The Cúram capabilities provide an end-to-end platform for social programs, which addresses tremendous need in the marketplace, and extends IBM’s ability to effectively and efficiently address those needs, putting people first.
Cúram and case management:
Cúram extends IBM's leadership in Case Management by providing vertical specific capabilities to manage Social Programs (in other words Case Management for government programs). Cúram case management capabilities is the smarter cities and government equivalent to core banking in the banking industry or supply chain management in manufacturing.
Whilst this presentation is all about the point product portfolio, i2 offerings are available for the three main sectors that we serve.
These solution offerings start to bring the much wider IBM offering into play that make sense for your industry.
IBM i2’s key point products include IBM i2 Analyst’s Notebook (and associated add-on products), IBM i2 Analyst’s Notebook Premium and the IBM i2 Intelligence Analysis Portfolio.
This slide gives you the main differentiation points between the products.
Firstly IBM i2 Analyst’s Notebook, historically i2’s leading flagship offering, is a rich visual analysis desktop product for single users which is predominantly aimed at, and used by intelligence, criminal and fraud analysts. Data can be ingested, visualized, analyzed and saved in the form of chart documents which have become a vital format for the dissemination of key intelligence.
IBM i2 Analyst’s Notebook Premium further extends the capabilities of Analyst’s Notebook by offering all the capabilities of Analyst’s Notebook backed-up by an optimized local analysis repository that includes all the key elements required for single users to collate, manage, explore and analyze all of their local information into a single location. Analyst’s Notebook Premium also acts as the rich visual analysis client when part of the IBM i2 Intelligence Analysis Portfolio or IBM i2 solutions.
IBM i2 Intelligence Analysis Platform is an extensible, scalable, collaborative environment that provides on-demand access to information with dedicated thin clients serving front-line, back-office, and managerial teams across the organization. With a flexible data storage model that meets the demands of today's increasingly disparate and complex data sets, this offering provides information for all at the time and place of need for improved situational awareness and decision-making. It also sits at the heart of the i2 solutions across Commercial Fraud Analysis, Law Enforcement and Public Safety and Defense and National Security.

This is our Industry Solutions Client Success Essentials Community, we encourage you and encouraging your clients to all join.
Link below is in blue
When you do join, you will see how we’ve been able to take all the different touch points where a client would go for information, through one area, and link them throughout. It’s our investment to ensure Client Success.
Please go join and please encourage clients to join.
Industry Solutions is making a large investment in ensuring we have overall client success. We measure client success in a renewal rate every day, but how we get to Client Success is a lot of work that we do every day and in every touch point with the client.
We realize IBM is large and there is a lot of information out there, and for us having many acquisitions and welcoming clients into IBM, we are trying to simplify how a client navigates through IBM to ensure they have the best experience possible. And we’ve done so trough a community offering of taking our Smarter Cites, our Smarter Commerce, and our Smarter Content and putting it all inside of a portal.
We did this by focusing on three key components of Software Support
- Access - having the right access to IBM knowledge.
- Being able to Interact - with experts through phone, email, social collaboration for the experts of the information you need.
- And then Consult – making sure you’re mindful of the offerings we have with our experts when it comes to Services, Lab Services, Health Checks… The different offerings allow for touch points with
your clients throughout the year versus the single pending event of a renewal.
On the next slide you will see an example of this…… (next slide)
We spend a lot of focus in making sure that we provide high value for our clients and measuring that success.
We work hard for you and your clients.
What we’re looking at here is our measurements, of showing you of how we’ve been able to, from a Support offering,
- reduce the overall PMRs by 10%
- reduce the S1 time to close is down by 16%
- reduce the time to providing a solution on S1 by 27%
In essence, our organization is getting smarter and faster. We could also talk about PMRs from a product release perspective as well, but showing our Subscription and our Support, and the value we’re bringing to our clients at the end of the day to ensure their success.
I’ve been talking for 20-25 mins about our solutions, the investment in IBM, the investment we’re making for our clients… This should convey that we strongly believe in what we’re doing as you can tell by my excitement. But it’s not just us, IBM is a defined market leader as said by the analyst community as well (next slide)
You can see here on the left hand side of the screen, we’re first talking about our e-commerce and our B2B solution, with Gartner’s Magic Quadrant and also Forrester’s Wave as showing IBM as the leader.
Combing through the middle, again it’s Forrester and Gartner documenting the leadership we have in our EMM segment.
And in the upper right hand corner, we’re also talking about our ECM, Smarter Content, documented by Gartner and Forrester again, naming us the marketing leader. There is no doubt, IBM is the strongest ECM vendor in terms of market share and total content revenue. In fact, just released, Gartner published its ECM Magic Quadrant report and recognized IBM as the 2012 undisputed leader in ECM.
And last but not least, Forrester has recognized IBM's leadership in case management.
Here we can see how we, Industry Solutions, are organized within IBM
Industry Solutions comprised of 4 pillars, please note the 4 pillar names are not a client facing terms, however the strategies we just reviewed are.
- This also helps understand where all an acquisition belongs within IS
- Each pillar is like a brand and has a S&S WW sales leader (ID each)
- We encourage you to work with your local S&S rep with specific questions but please know we have dedicated resources to help the S&S reps, and our Partners, directly if you need it.
Please note that both B2B Commerce and EMM have SaaS offerings too. The main focus of today is about on premise software but be mindful of our SaaS offerings as well.
Additional information on this can be found on Partner World.
