2. MATTHEW
The Son of Man is going to be
17:22
betrayed into the hands of men.
They will kill Him, & on the
third day He will be raised to life.
3.
4. MATTHEW
If another believer sins against
18:15-17 listens
you, go privately & point out the
offense. If the other person
& confesses it, you have won that
person back. But if you are
unsuccessful, take one or two
others with you & go back again,
so that everything you say may
be confirmed by 2 or 3 witnesses.
5. MATTHEW
If the person still refuses to listen,
18:15-17 accept
take your case to the church.
Then if he or she won‟t
the church‟s decision, treat that
person as a pagan or a
corrupt tax collector.
6.
7. MATTHEW
Then Peter came to Jesus & asked,
18:21-35
“Lord, how many times shall
I forgive someone who sins
against me? Up to seven times?”
Jesus answered, “I tell you,
not seven times, but seventy-seven
times. Therefore, the kingdom
of heaven is like a king…
8. MATTHEW
…who wanted to settle accounts
18:21-35
with his servants. As he began
the settlement, a man who owed
him 10,000 bags of gold was
brought to him. Since he was not
able to pay, the master ordered
that he & his wife & his children
& all that he had be sold
to repay the debt.
9. MATTHEW
The servant fell on his knees
18:21-35
before him. „Be patient with me,‟
he begged, „& I will pay back
everything.‟ The servant‟s master
took pity on him, canceled the
debt & let him go.
10. MATTHEW
.But when that servant went out,
18:21-35
he found one of his fellow servants
who owed him 100 silver coins.
He grabbed him & began to choke
him. „Pay back what you owe me!‟
he demanded. His fellow servant
fell to his knees & begged him,
„Be patient with me, & I will
pay you back.‟
11. MATTHEW
But he refused. Instead, he went
18:21-35
off & had the man thrown into
prison until he could pay the debt.
When the other servants saw what
had happened, they were greatly
distressed & went & told their
master everything that had
happened.
12. MATTHEW
Then the master called the servant
18:21-35
in. „You wicked servant,‟ he said,
„I canceled all that debt of yours
because you begged me to.
Shouldn‟t you have had mercy
on your fellow servant just as
I had on you?‟
13. MATTHEW
In anger his master handed him
18:21-35
over to the jailers to be tortured,
until he should pay back all he
owed. This is how My heavenly
Father will treat each of you
unless you forgive a brother
or sister from your heart.”
14.
15. MATTHEW 19:3
Some Pharisees came to him
to test him. They asked, “Is it lawful
for a man to divorce his wife for
any & every reason?”
16. MATTHEW 19:4-
“Haven‟t you read,” He replied,
6
“that at the beginning the Creator
„made them male and female,‟ & said,
„For this reason a man will leave
his father & mother & be united to his
wife, & the two will become one flesh‟?
So they are no longer two, but one.
Therefore what God has joined
together, let no one separate.”
17. MATTHEW 19:8-
Jesus replied, “Moses permitted you
9
to divorce your wives because
your hearts were hard. But it was not
this way from the beginning. I tell you
that anyone who divorces his wife,
except for sexual immorality,
& marries another woman
commits adultery.”

20.
21. Most holy & merciful Father, we confess
to You & to one another, & to the whole
communion of saints in heaven & on earth,
that we have sinned by our own fault in
thought, word & deed; by what we have
done, & by what we have left undone.
We have not loved You with our whole heart,
& mind & strength. We have not loved our
neighbors as ourselves. We have not
forgiven others, as we have been forgiven.
Have Mercy on us, Lord.
22. We have been deaf to Your call to serve,
as Christ served us. We have not been
true to the mind of Christ.
We have grieved Your Holy Spirit.
Have mercy on us, Lord.
We confess to You, Lord, all our past
unfaithfulness; the pride, hypocrisy
& impatience of our lives.
We confess to you, Lord.
Our self-indulgent appetites & ways,
& our exploitation of other people.
We confess to you, Lord.
23. Our anger at our own frustration,
& our envy of those more fortunate
than ourselves.
We confess to you,
Lord.
Our intemperate love of worldly goods
& comforts, & our dishonesty in daily
life & work.
We confess to you,
Lord.
Our negligence in prayer & worship, & our
failure to commend the faith that is in us.
24. Accept our repentance, Lord, for the wrongs
we have done; for the blindness to human
need & suffering, & our indifference to
injustice & cruelty.
Accept our repentance, Lord.
For all false judgments, for uncharitable
thoughts toward our neighbors,
& for our prejudice & contempt
toward those who differ from us.
Accept our repentance, Lord.
25. For our waste & pollution of Your creation,
& our lack of concern for those who come
after us.
Accept our repentance, Lord.
Restore us, good Lord, & let Your anger
depart from us.
Favorably hear us,
for Your mercy is great.
Accomplish in us the work of Your salvation.
That we may show forth
Your glory in the world.
26. By the cross & passion of Your Son our Lord.
Bring us with all Your saints
to the joy of His
resurrection.
AMEN.
