DP World has expanded into Spain by acquiring a 60% stake in Tarragona Container Port Terminal. Tarragona is well positioned to serve northern and central Spain and increase trade between Spain and the Middle East. Construction has also begun on a new DP World terminal in Callao, Peru where DP World will invest over $300 million for the first phase and operate the terminal under a 30-year concession. Additionally, P&O Maritime Services has launched operations in the UAE to support DP World's operations in the region and at Jebel Ali, bringing efficiency and service level gains.

World Environment Day
SCO Region
Mundra International Container Terminal – MICT
Theme: Grow more trees, cut no trees
Employees and their children gathered at MICT township gate and marched
though the township clusters, commemorating the occasion.
Nhava Sheva International Container Terminal – NSICT
Nhava Sheva’s focus this Environment Day was towards a more
environmentally friendly terminal. Awareness of global warming, depletion,
of natural resources and disaster prevention was highlighted in CEO, Capt.
Dastoor’s message. “Environmental and safety awareness is a continuous
process of appreciating and taking steps to care for our Earth,” he said.
APC Region
Laem Chabang International Terminal – LCIT
Striving towards an environmentally friendly terminal is one of LCIT’s key focuses.
The company has completed exhaustive studies to find ways to reduce the terminal’s
energy consumption. LCIT is considering several equipment enhancements and
changes to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. On the other hand, to generate more
oxygen into the atmosphere and to help reduce global warming, it is the terminal’s
drive to hold a series of tree-planting events. Plans and approvals are underway for
a small park and recreational area between B5 and C3 terminals.
DP World – Head Office
At the Head Office, DP World launched a successful Green Week Programme which
addressed the importance of protecting our environment. In his message, CEO Mohammed
Sharaf said, “By being aware of your activities and how they can impact the environmental,
and taking action at work and at home, you can make a positive difference towards
sustainable living.”
During the week educational messages were sent out daily, offering tips on environment
awareness both at home and in the workplace. Recycling bins was installed in various
locations on the floor and reusable jute shopping bags were distributed.
AMR Region
In its drive towards environment-friendly initiatives, the Americas is focusing on
proactive management techniques to reduce harmful environmental impact in four
key areas - air pollution, water pollution, ground pollution and waste management.
In alignment with corporate Safety and Environment policy, the region’s target is to
be ‘accreditation-ready” for ISO 14001 (on Environment Management Systems) and
