Dear Judges:
My name is Wade Godfrey. I am a varsity wrestler and football player. I plan to attend Reinhardt
University in the Fall of 2012. I will major in Sociology and minor in psychology. I wanted to
become a Person Fitness Trainer before the start of my Senior Project. I thought since I wanted
to become a Person Fitness Trainer I would need to feel how it is to push myself to my physical
ability by someone so that I would be able to relate on how I train my athletes. I decided to run
the 5K YMCA Fall Classic. My goal was to get under twenty-three minutes.
I wrote my research paper on how to prevent training injuries in long distance running. I wrote
on this topic because I wanted to make sure I did not stumble on any problems that I could easily
avoid. I discovered that most injuries are from by over training and poor running form. I ran
through some problems that I corrected along the way. I procrastinated on writing down what I
ate for the day on weekends, but I set alarms and sticky notes around house to remind myself. I
came across an expensive problem that I quickly fixed, which was my little brother broke my
digital scale, and I went to Wal-Mart and bought a hundred and twenty dollar new scale. I
encountered very few serious problems on my Senior Project.
I realized throughout my Senior Project that I do not want to be a Personal Fitness Trainer. I
actually want to become a Social Worker. Based on my background of being in and out of foster
care and my experiences with adoption I feel like I would best benefit the state by becoming a
Social Worker or becoming part of the Georgia’s Adoption Agency. I want to help children in
foster care and adoption families. I plan to go to Reinhardt to major in sociology and minor in
psychology.
I feel like the Senior Project has made me realize what I really have a passion for and how I can
help change the percent of foster care children. Thank you for your time allowing me to present
my Senior Project to you.
Sincerely,
Wade Godfrey
