7. Expect learners to contribute to class discussions. Encourage divergent opinions. Solicit students’ personal, professional experiences. Make sure not just a few people on soap boxes. Judge quality, not quantity of posts.
8. Expect learners to communicate with each other, not just you. Don’t try to control the conversation. Do not respond to every posting. Participate, not dominate.
9. Clarity, Clarity, Clarity. Beginning online learners need structure. Set due dates, and benchmark dates. Make your objectives, goals and expectations explicit for every single task. Prompt feedback is a must!
