Unified Communications Market Trends
UC Definition - multimodal communication (using voice, IM, email,
and video) system that has presence, identity, and availability
features to streamline business processes by reducing the human
latency inherent in business communications.
UC trials are popular, deployments are not: In Forrester's recent
survey of IT professionals (NA & Europe) it found that over half of
respondents are trailing UC but only 11% are reporting full UC
deployment.
While UC has some powerful benefits in terms of improved
business results, decrease in cycle times, and reduced overall IT
and telecom spending, the lack of standards, interoperability and
vendor viability have hampered more wide-spread adoption by large
enterprises.
