  1. Welcome to today’s E-Verify Informational Seminar [Webinar] for Federal Contractors.
  2. Effective October 1, 2010 there was a change made in the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). The change adjusts the simplified acquisition threshold contained in the FAR from $100,000 to $150,000. The change affects which contracts the FAR E-Verify clause can be inserted into, but does not affect E-Verify requirements & responsibilities once the clause is there.  There are no other E-Verify related changes in the rule. There are no changes in the FAR E-Verify provisions for subcontracts or IDIQ contracts. The key thing to remember is to look for the FAR E-Verify clause in your federal contract. If you have questions about your contract, please contact your contracting officer or legal counsel. Also, the new threshold of $150,000 only applies to solicitations for bid and contracts issued on or after October 1, 2010.  Existing contracts already containing the FAR E-Verify clause are not affected. The reason for the change is because of the Ronald W. Reagan National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2005, which requires acquisition-related thresholds to be adjusted for inflation every five years based on changes in the Consumer Price Index. The E-Verify website, manuals and guides are in the process of being updated to reflect the change. To view the final FAR rule, please visit www.regulations.gov .

On September 26, 2010 U.S. Passport enhancement was launched E-Verify will check the passport number, date of birth, and picture against passport records. The new enhancement will enable E-Verify to automatically check the validity and authenticity of all U.S. passports presented by employees Strengthen the integrity of the E-Verify system by checking additional data sources
