3. Glenn Ford May 1, 1916 August. 30, 2006 Actor. Born Gwyllyn Samuel Newton Ford in Canada. His film debut was in "Heaven With a Barbed Wire Fence" (1939). World War II started, Glenn enlisted in the Marines, then served in Vietnam. He was awarded the French Legion of Honour Medal. Married Eleanor Powell (1943-1959) and had a son, Peter. Reached stardom opposite Rita Hayworth in "Gilda" (1946). Ford was now a popular star showing his diverse talents in dramas, comedies and westerns. His ability to draw and fire in 0.4 seconds earned him the title of "fastest gun" in Hollywood westerns In 1978 Glenn Ford was inducted into the National Cowboy Hall of Fame by the Western Heritage Museum. After developing heart and circulatory problems, Ford retired from acting in 1991. The highly respected and popular actor died in Beverly Hills at the home he shared with his son and his family. 4. Sandra Dee April 23, 1942 Feb. 20, 2005 Actress. Born Alexandra Zuck, she made her professional debut as a model at age four, was appearing in commercials by age twelve and at the age of fourteen made her first film, “Until they Sail.” In 1958 she won a Golden Globe Award for “Most Promising Newcomer.” She became known for her wholesome roles in such films as “Imitation of Life,” “Gidget” and “A Summer Place.” She had moderately successful film appearances in the 1960’s but never returned to the heights of popularity she enjoyed in the previous decade. However, her 1950’s stardom was celebrated in the song “Look at Me, I’m Sandra Dee” featured in the Broadway musical “Grease” and in 2004, her life with her husband (actor Bobby Darin) was portrayed in the film “Beyond the Sea.” For most of her life she struggled with ill health battling alcoholism, depression, throat cancer and kidney ailments. 5. Eddie Adams June 12, 1933 Sept. 19, 2004 Journalist. Eddie Adams was a Pulitzer Prize winning photojournalist whose most famous image was that of the execution of a Vietnamese Communist guerrilla on the streets of Saigon, published by the Associated Press (1968 AP). Also a Marine Corps photographer during the Korean War, he received numerous awards aside from the Pulitzer such as the 1978 Robert Capa Award and three George Polk Memorial Awards. Some of his subjects included Richard Nixon, Pope John Paul II, Anwar Sadat and Deng Xiaoping. He died from complications of Lou Gehrig’s disease. Burial: Unknown

6. Sanora Babb April 21, 1907 Dec. 31, 2005 Author. Sanora Babb was born in Otoe Indian Community in Oklahoma and died in her home in Hollywood Hills, California. She is best remembered for her book "Whose Names Are Unknown," an acutely observed chronicle of one family's flight from the drought and dust storms of the high plains to the migrant camps of California during the 1930s. She was the widow of Oscar-winning cinematographer James Wong Howe, whom she dated in the 1940s in defiance of California's anti-miscegenation laws. Babb wrote five books, including a novelized memoir, a volume of poetry and a collection of short stories. Two of her stories were chosen for the 1950 and 1960 editions of the distinguished anthology series "Best American Short Stories,“. Babb joined the Communist Party and during the heat of the communist witch hunts, she spent more than a year in Mexico. During her self-imposed exile, she completed "The Lost Traveller," inspired by her complex relationship with her father. Burial: Unknown

7. Giovanni Agnelli May 12, 1921 Jan. 24, 2003 Businessman. Ganni Agnelli graduated in Law from Turin University. During World War II he served as a Cavalry Officer in the Italian Expeditionary Force. Son of Eduardo Agnelli and Donna Virginia Bourbon del Monte, a half-American daughter of the Prince di San Faustino. Honorary chairman of FIAT, Agnelli was the most influential Italian business leader of the 20th century, building FIAT up from a small carmaker into a sprawling industrial and financial conglomerate. He opened factories from Russia (at the time Soviet Union) to South America, and started international alliances and joint ventures which marked a new industrial mentality. For his conduct in Tunisia he was awarded the War Cross for Military Valour. Became president of Juventus (soccer club) in 1947 establishing Juventus as a powerful force in Italian and European football. Agnelli's influence extended to the corridors of power in Rome where he was courted by politicians. In 1991 he was made a life senator to honour his role in developing Italy's economy. 8. Oleg Cassini April 11, 1913 March. 17, 2006 Fashion Designer. Oleg Cassini was famous for the outfits he designed for First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy. A Hollywood costume designer, who was married to actress Gene Tierney for ten years, and was engaged to Grace Kelly but rejected him to marry Prince Ranier. Oleg Cassini was born Oleg Loiewski in Paris, France, of Russian parents in 1913. He used his mother's name for his professional career. He attended school in Florence, Italy at the English Catholic School and graduated from the Accademia delle Belle Arti in 1932. He rose to fame when he became the premiere fashion designer for Mrs. Kennedy in 1960. He would design 300 during the course of the administration. In 1995 he wrote the book, "A Thousand Days of Magic, Dressing Jacqueline Kennedy for the White House." In 2001 his dresses were displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in the exhibit; "Jacqueline Kennedy: The White House Years." Burial: Holy Rood Cemetery Westbury Nassau County New York, USA

9. Rick D. Husband July 12, 1957 Feb. 1, 2003 United States Astronaut. Rick D. Husband, a 45 years old Amarillo, Texas native, and a Colonel in the United States Air Force, he had been selected as an astronaunt in 1994, and served as Flight Commander on the Space Shuttle Columbia. On February 1, 2003 NASA lost all communication and radar contact with the shuttle just minutes before a 9:16AM scheduled landing time. A short time later it was confirmed that the Columbia had exploded over eastern Texas, and that there were no survivors. The Columbia crew had completed more than 80 scientific experiments during their 16 day flight in space. Lost in the tragedy along woth Col. Husband were crew members Pilot William McCool, Payload Commander Michael Anderson, Mission Specialist Kalpana Chawla, Mission Specialist David Brown, Mission Specialist Laurel Clark, and Isreali Payload Specialist Ilan Ramone. 10. Dale Earnhardt, Sr. April 29, 1951 Feb. 18, 2001 Auto Race Car Driver. Dale Earnhardt Sr. was one of the greatest NASCAR racers ever. He was nicknamed Iron Horse and The Intimidator for the way he drove on the track. He was tough and competitive and would do almost anything to win. Over his career, he won 76 races. But it's pretty tough to intimidate a concrete wall. It was the final lap of the Daytona 500 and the final race for Earnhardt. He died from head injuries just minutes after the crash. Earnhart, who was from North Carolina, started racing cars in local events when he was just 14. He entered the NASCAR circuit when he was 24 and would go on to become one of North America's most popular race car drivers. He passed his love for speed on to his son, Dale Jr, who entered the NASCAR tour during the 2000 season - winning two races as a rookie. Dale Jr. was just a few yards ahead of his Dad when the crash happened on February 18th, 2001. Burial: Earnhardt Estate Mooresville Iredell County North Carolina, USA
