A short description of the Second Mindanao Internet Cafe Association Summit to be held on February 18 and 19, 2010 at The Event Centre, SM City in Davao City, Philippines
1. Second Mindanao Internet Café Associations Summit
Theme “Bringing the Benefits of Information Communication Technology to the
People of Mindanao through the Internet Cafes”
I. Event Objectives: The 2nd Mindanao Internet Café Summit is a two day trade fair/
workshop type of event that will serve as a follow up activity to the 1st Mindanao
Internet Café Summit that was organized by the Internet Café Association of
Davao two years ago. This event hopes to attain the following:
1. Bring together the officials and representatives of the different internet café
associations in Mindanao into a forum with national/local government
representatives and allied ICT related business entities to discuss ways in which
to improve the conditions of the internet café industry in Mindanao.
2. This event hopes impart information to the independent internet café owners and
operators on the advantages of being a member of an internet café association
and to encourage the development of one in areas wherein there is none.
3. Introduce different collaborative projects and partnerships between the
stakeholders (internet café associations, local/national government agencies, ICT
related businesses and community related groups like educational institutions)
that will bring the benefits of information communication technology to the
people of Mindanao through the internet cafes.
II. Partner Organizations – Internet Café Association of Davao, Genuine Equity for
Mindanao (USAID Program), Intel Technology Philippines, Commission on
Information and Communications Technology and Department of Trade and
Industries.
III. Invited Participants:
a. Officers and members of different Internet café associations from major cities
and provinces, such as Davao City, Tagum City, Davao del Norte, Compostela
Valley, Davao del Sur, Socsksargen, Iligan City, Butuan City, Cotabato City,
Zamboanga Peninsula, Digos, Comval, Midsayap and Caraga.
b. Officials and representatives of the Commission on Information and
Communication Technology
c. Independent Internet Café operators and owners in the different areas in
Mindanao
d. Officials and representatives of the different local government units
2. e. Representatives of the different community stakeholders like NGO’s and
educational institutions, sme’s and cooperatives.
IV. Method of Inviting Participants
1. Website Posting – official website and blog of I-Café Pilipinas
2. Personal emails sent to internet café owners in the database of I-Café Pilipinas
3. Invitations to be sent by our institutional partners like the DTI and the CICT
through their Regional ICT councils.
4. Postings on online Forums and social networking sites
5. Formal Invitations sent out via regular mail
6. Paid advertisement in newspapers and social networking sites
7. Press releases through the Cyberpress Group

a. Digital Trade Fair
b. The workshop of the officials of the different internet café associations and
internet café owners of Mindanao to discuss topics related to their operations.

all official communication including press releases – please see the separate
attachment for the example.

c. Gold Event partners would be given a separate page in the features section of
the official blog and at I-Café Pilipinas Site. Also it would be featured in the
e-mag that we are currently setting up for release before the event.
d. Event banners that would be set up around the venue area before and during
the event. There will be a separate banner for the event partners depending
on their classification.
e. Newspaper advertisements in the Mindanao Area to promote the event,
souvenir programs and press releases.
