8. That was a unique opportunity of mixing
fun and work
I was playing video games
And not only playing
I was actually producing them
And had to do business as well
By dealing partnerships with leading Asian distributors
Such a Papaya, for distributing games for Android in China
9. Why did I leave ?
I want to fulfill my dreams
And that means working in Asia
More specifically in a Chinese-speaking country
Like China, Taiwan or Singapore, for example
10. Before that, I worked 3 years for
and learnt loads of new skills
11. First as a SMB Marketing Assistant
That was an internship
Actually, it was part of a sandwich course
The rhythm was really great: 2 weeks working for Microsoft, then going back to school for one week
I had to manage our day-to-day campaigns
My first mission was to manage a cash-back campaign aimed at medium businesses
I was even part of the Windows 7 launch team
And my biggest project was the Ingram Showcase
That’s the biggest reseller-aimed IT event in France
My role was to coordinate all the team working on this project
And we did great!! Our booth was elected second best booth of all the fair
12. Then as a Licensing Sales Specialist
That was my very first job
I’m now an expert on Microsoft Licensing
And when you know how complicated it is, that’s an achievement
I even obtained an official certification
It is a sales assistant job
Ensuring the Account Manager were selling the right contracts
And guaranteeing a maximum attach rate for our key products
And an international part
It was called “International Allocation Management”
Basically, I had to negotiate with Microsoft subsidiaries, to ensure the right downstream coverage
It was only aimed at specific, global (worldwide) contracts.
13. And finally as a Community Manager
But not as you might think
I was not on Facebook 24/7
Nor was I moderating forums and newsgroups
It was a “people” job
I had to form friendly-yet-professional bonds
With both people who loved and hated us
In order to broadcast our messages
And together tell a compelling story
I learnt the art of speaking
I was the voice of Microsoft during tech events
The biggest of those events was the Microsoft TechDays (17 000 attendees)
14. But before that, I did an internship
In an international NGO
Plan International is a fostering NGO
It helps children all around the third world
I worked in webmarketing
I launched two websites for the association
I implemented the subscribers’ newsletter
I even built their whole presence on Facebook
I discovered adwords
We were offered a complimentary budget
I had to optimize our keywords bidding
22. I stayed there 3 years
Learning the basics
Full time at school for the first year
Learning the basics in economy, law, finance…
In an exchange program
The first semester in China
I worked as a translator for the 2008 Olympics
And the second semester back in Grenoble
And a sandwich course
1 week every 3 weeks at school
The rest of the time at Microsoft

I used to teach it
I was training a team of schoolgirls
They made it to the regional championship
I made it to the Nationals
I ended up 5th in the French Championship
It was in 2005
And trained abroad
My team organized many exchange programs
The most interesting were in Serbia and China
28. I write. A little.
I have two blogs. And two Tumblogs
They’re mostly about China. And also gaming and cooking.
Two are written in English, one in Chinese, and one in French.
I love writing actual letters
It reminds me how to use a pen, instead of a keyboard.
And knowing I’m fine keeps my friends and family happy.
29. I watch loads of TV Shows and movies
From Bollywood to Wisteria Lane.

Not necessarily a big one
I enjoyed working in big corporations
But my teams always kept a “startup” spirit
With multicultural teams

I was in one at Microsoft, this is an experience I want to live again
It keeps your mind open to new strategies and approaches

Moving to Asia is an adventure
And I’ve been planning that for ages

I believe innovation really is the key to success
Actually my Master’s term paper dealt with innovation for SMBs

Besides, tech companies are renowned for setting trends
And working for you is fun
As work and play are not always exclusive
