This document provides an overview of basic iPad functions for educational purposes. It describes how to use common features like the home screen, apps, keyboard, camera, Safari browser, and display options. Activities are included to practice skills like organizing apps, taking photos, browsing websites, and using keyboard functions. Recommended apps for education are also listed, such as Rover, Evernote, Dropbox, and Audioboo.

3. Finger Moves
• Tap – lightly press an icon
• Drag – keep fingers pressed down on the
glass
– Two finger drag scrolls windows within a
window
• Flick – lightly whip finger up or down a
page
• Finger spread and pinch
• Double Tap – zoom in on photos

4. Opening and Switching Apps
• Open – Tap the icon on the home screen
• Return to Home – Press the Home button

– Face Time, Photo Booth, Mail, Safari, iBooks,
Videos, Photos, iTunes, App Store, Maps,
You Tube, Game Center, Notes, Calendar,
Contacts, Newstand, Mail, and Camera,

• On the Dock – Default apps
– Safari, Mail, Photos, and iTunes

6. Arrange Apps
• Touch and hold until app jiggles
• Drag app to location
• Press Home button to save arrangement

7. Organize Apps - Folders
– Hold and jiggle an icon
– Drag one icon onto another icon
– Name the folder and then add more apps
• Limit 20 apps per folder

8. MultiTask – jiggle and jump
– Double click home button
or 4 finger swipe
– Flick left to see all open apps
Force app to close – Touch and hold your
app icon until it jiggles, the tap the
– Slide right –orientation lock and music

• Drag an app to a new location
• Create a folder/name the folder and add
more apps
• Locate all open apps and close them
• Practice Finger moves
– Tap, drag, flick, zoom in and out of photos
– Or find a built in app and learn how to use it

• Backspace – deletes letters, then words
• ?123 – levels of keyboards
• Auto correction – word comes up, hit
space bar and new word appears

– Double tap a word, adjust blue circles to cover
the words
– Undo – quick shake, undo menu appears

Saving a Page for Later
• Tap the Action button and then the +
• To see the page: Tap the Bookmarks icon
and tap the page in the Reading List.

• Locate a picture and copy it
