- 5. CAUSES OF DEFORESTATION: ACID RAIN LOGGING FIRE GROWING CROPS CATTLE RANCHING
- 6. CONSEQUENCES 1) THE CARBON CYCLE -More and more co2 is building up and less of it is taken up by the trees. This causes the global warming effect. 2) THE WATER CYCLE- The roots of the trees draw water from the ground and release it to the atmosphere. This process called transpiration is disrupted and results in drier climate.
- 7. 3) SOIL EROSION-soil is washed away by rain water because it is no longer protected by the trees. 4) DESERTIFICATION-Deforestation contributes to changing the forest into deserts. 5) EXTINCTION OF SPECIES-half of the world species live in the forest. The species will become extinct when their habitat is destroyed.

- 10. Once lived on Bali, where the last tiger was believed to have been killed in 1937. BALI TIGER
- 11. The Javan Tiger occurred on the Indonesian island of Java. The exact time of extinction remains unknown, but this subspecies must have become extinct in the early 1980s. JAVAN TIGER
- 12. CASPIAN TIGER The Caspian tiger once ranged throughout Afghanistan, Turkey, Mongolia, Iran, Northern Iraq, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and the Central Asiatic region of Russia. The exact date of extinction is unknown.
- 13. The Bali tiger was the first subspecies of the tiger to become extinct. Unfortunately, since then, further two subspecies, namely the Caspian Tiger and the Javan Tiger , have become extinct. The five remaining tiger subspecies are the Bengal tiger, Siberian (Amur) tiger, Sumatran tiger, Indo-Chinese tiger, and the South China tiger. These 5 subspecies are critically endangered end may follow them soon, if nothing more will be done to protect them! WHERE IS MA HOME?!
