Poverty  in Guatemala  5 out of 10 Guatemalans are poor. 51% of Guatemalans are poor.(6.6 million) 15.2% of Guatemalans live in extreme poverty.(1.9 million) or with less than a dollar a day to live. 28% of the poverty is in the city. 72% is in rural areas.
Corruption, violence, all are responsible for this inhumanity… Is this what we want?
Causes Unemployment Lack of Education Government corruption Parental Responsibility/lack of sexual education Discrimination  Indigenous groups are excluded from the social, economic and political mainstream due to Guatemala's complex topography they are isolated.  Many indigenous people speak many languages and dialects, but most do not speak Spanish, and this has kept them even more excluded.
Effects Poor health care. Poor living conditions. Violence. Corruption Economy Child labor/trafficking Prostitution Drug Trafficking and consumption Lack of resources  Isolation
How you can help… Donating money/materials to educational institutions Keep company to children who lack of family structure Informing communities Going away on health care expeditions. Fund raising Raise awareness Get help form foreign and local companies Raising money by selling goods in school, neighborhood, or at social events. Give a smile to the children in the gas stops.
