2. The 1st ever Airtel Lean Six Sigma Conclave was held on Monday, May 28, 2012. The event kicked off with the
evaluation of the top 10 projects by EC members at the HQ Penthouse. It was then followed by an exhibition
held at the Bistro Waterfront garden behind the Head Office in the afternoon.
The grand finale was the Dinner and Award ceremony which was held later that evening to felicitate with all
those who have completed projects after their Lean Six Sigma training. 55 employees have completed
projects out of the 160 trained so far.
The intent of the training is to promote and enhance the application of the learning from the training, on our
respective jobs. It is an effort to promote the usage of systematic problem solving approach among staff.
After the evaluation, winners emerged in group and individual categories. The group winners are Ramesh
Guptha, Bolade Agboola, Ebinimi Alagoa, Joshua Eru and Omotola Akintoye who worked on the PHCN Bill
Payment Project.
Wale Awosokanre won the Award for the individual category with his project on Optimizing Report Request.
All the winners each got a 22” LCD Flat Screen TV.
According to CEO, Rajan Swaroop, he was very happy to observe the rigor which was put into the top ten
Projects and he expressed his desire to see 100 of such top projects this year. For COO, Deepak Srivastava, it is
the beginning of a new era, not only for Airtel and telecoms industry but for the entire Nigeria. He
commended the participants for doing a good job.
Sanjeev Srivastava, the Head of Business Excellence stressed that the talent available in the business are keen
to adapt the methodology and will be effectively guided by his team to fully adapt to the rigour. He expressed
his desire to participate and win the CREST award for Airtel Nigeria through one of the lean six sigma
projects this year .
