1. Journal 1 – 8th October 2013
Self-concept is the image that we have of ourselves. This image is formed in a number of
ways, but is particularly influenced by our interactions with important people in our lives.
This is the first lesson for my Social Psychology class and it begins with understanding of
ourself. We are asked to list out fivesentences to describe ourselvesand start with “I AM…”.The
five sentences that I had written down based on my look and impression toward my friend.
1) I am piper.
( this is because my friends are mostly male and not much female friend, so they tease me
and call me as a gay man. Piper is one of the appellations of gay.)
2) I am playful.
(I always do some weird stuffs and abnormal trick to tease my friend and make them laugh.)
3) I am sitting.
(this is what I do at the moment)
4) I am lazy.
(this is use to describe the younger age of me when I was 16 and 17 years old, because of
this, my result totally drop and I got a bad result for my SPM)
5) I am not good in time management.
( I always rush my assignment at the last moment but not do it early.)
After this, we are asked to sit in a circle to say out one of the sentence that we wrote in
the paper. This is a good chance to understand more of my friends. Our lecturer, Miss Pang
has also said that normally what we feel on our own and it is not other feel on us, and it’s
true. Just like one of my friends had defined himself as an arrogant person, but the true was
we felt that he was really friendly, whenever we asked help from him and teach us, he will
put much effort and explained clearly to make sure we understand. I can also see many
types of different people and how they defined themselves in their own way. Conclusion,
this was quite fun and I realized that Miss Pang was a friendly and open minded person. This
is the first time I have met such a good lecturer in my University life.

2. Journal 2 – 23th October 2013
This is the second lesson of our social psychology class. This class is mostly discuss about our
mind thinking and it is divide into two parts which is controlled and automatic. Controlled mind
thinking is define as our brain control our action consciously and there might be some reason
behind however automatic mind thinking mean that how our brain react on something and it
functions unconsciously for example first impression of others toward us , how we recognize
people by differentiate their sound ,their look and so on.
In this class, we are required to produce a circle as well and talk about our first impression
about friend. This is much more related to self-servicing bias. Most of us are giving the true
answer however there are also some students shy when facing this situation. And then the
lecture continues on how are bank stores our experience, knowledge or memory into some sort
of bank.
Actually today lecture is quite informative and fun. I can also know how my friend’s first
impression toward me and how they defined base on their first impression.

3. Journal 3 – 13th November 2013
On this day, we are having a lesson on how our eye work on our sight , and about light.
We also revise about eye structures that we have been studied in form 5. Miss Pang has let us
how colours affect our life. For example ,how red dress affect and attract male without realizing.
Miss Pang also introduce us some special and attractive photo such as reversible figures, optical
illusion such as necker cube and so on. Although they blow off my mind and cause tiredness,
but this is the chance that I could look more on amazing drawing and stuff in this world. Besides,
they can also help me in my drawing skill and creative thinking skill toward my course. This class
is so amazing and it fresh my mind.

4. Today, we have to attend for a social psychology test which make by our lecturer. It contains 50
questions and all of that are multiple choice questions. Before this exam I have use a period of
time to prepare. We are require to study three chapter which is independent and
interdependent type of people, vision and the components and theories of the chapter of
attitudes. In these three chapters, I have gain quite much things in it. Firstly, in the first chapter,
there are mostly learning about self-concept, self- serving bias, positive thinking and selfefficacy. Secondly, the second chapter that we have study is eye structure and the effect of
colours such as red can bring outwomen’s charm. However, we have also study about some
special and surprising stuff which is reversible figure. Somehow it makes me confuse and feel
dizzy but overall it still amazing and interesting to me. Lastly, the last chapter is about attitude.
In the end, the test is going well on this day and I feel quite satisfies on my study which I can
gain many knowledge on it.
Journal 5
In this lesson, Miss Chia has teaches us a new chapter which talks about conformity and group
behavior. Conformity is action or behavior in correspondence with socially accepted standards,
conventions, rules, or laws. It has two types which is individually presence and group presence
and it has a big different. In this chapter, there is an experiment done to show that the attitude
and justification of society while in a group and individually. At first, Miss Chia has chooses a
person to ask him to answer a question and in the other hand we have to answer a wrong
answer. At last, the person who has choosen by Miss Chia has confuses on the answer and
trying to make some changes on his own justification. Besides there has also a slide to show a
scene of a man is kidnapping a small girl but there have no any passerby help her. After quite a
few passersby, finally two kind guys have trying to rescue the girl. This experiment shows that
every people have their own decision and way to approach in this situation. However some of
the passersby have told that they thought other people will help the girl and some passersby
have told that they thought the guy is her dad.
