1. Welcome to Open Popular University/Universite Populaire
Imagine a world where anyone can learn anything any time anywhere without spending a dime and
without being tied to any educational institution. This is the power of self-learning and true open
education. At this point one can learn anything instantly or for a certain period time according to his/her
own schedule using his/her abilities of learning, the educational resources of the internet, the library,
the community and social media educational communities. Self-learners are not the sole beneficiaries of
this power. Regular learners, teachers and researchers benefit also. In open education educational
materials called OER are shared freely between learners and facilitators of learning. In open learning
one isn't taught by someone who forces you to learn and directs all your learning. A facilitator of
learning helps you to reach the educational goals that you set for yourself or you can chose to learn by
yourself using the resources at your disposal. This establishes lifelong learning where one doesn't have
to learn under the direction of someone. Open Popular University embraces the movement of
empowering people with knowledge. Open Popular University/Universite populaire is created on the
following concepts: informal education, alternative education and open education. The mission of Open
Popular University is to help thousands of people throughout the world especially those who can't
afford to pay the high costs of higher education. The university reserves a place for Haitian learners
