Notes de l'éditeur
My passion is music (specifically electronic music), and I enjoy sharing new music with my friends. But where do I begin my search? And how can I share this music with others who like the same music I do?
SoundCloud is one of the best websites to discover, share, and personalize the music I enjoy most. SoundCloud is a site where artists can post material for the entire community to stream for free. It gives artists a chance to expose their talent, and it gives users a chance to be the first amongst their friends to know about it.
Lets take a look at the dashboard. This is where you will find the latest material posted by the artists that you chose to “follow”. It is the easiest way to track your favorite artists and listen to their latest material the minute it gets posted.
You can explore the “hottest” or latest tracks on this site. Hot tracks are the tracks that have received the most attention throughout the community, whether it gets played, commented on, liked, or downloaded. When playing a track, comments will appear from several different users either critiquing or praising the artists’ work.
In an affinity space, everyone can, if they want, generate material for others to use.
On SoundCloud, artists can post material for others to use. As you can see, 17,372 tracks under a creative commons license have been posted in the last 7 days.
What if I want more?
An Affinity Space also encourages people to visit other sites.
I came across a website called thissongissick.com. This website is very current as new material gets posted nearly every day. On top of that, each new material comes with a broad description as a title for new members, and underneath it is a more detailed description for experienced users.
Here we can see a more broad description at the top, and a more detailed description at the bottom. The broad description focuses on the genre and the detailed description focuses on a more complex analysis of the material posted.
TSIS does just that to make it user friendly for all levels of experience.
READ.
TSIS is run by a college student from the University of Colorado at Boulder who has the same passion I do. He is responsible for sharing material to over 100,000 people that like his website via Facebook. It is clear this blogger has established a name for himself in the world of music sharing.
Thank you for listening to my take on affinity space with sharing, discovering, and personalizing new music.
