This document discusses human development and socially disadvantaged groups in India. It notes that while India's national and state human development reports have analyzed dimensions of human development across social groups by disaggregating some individual indicators, the efforts to develop exclusion indicators and indices to capture exclusion are limited. The document aims to address this gap by assessing the impact of social exclusion on human deprivation in India through developing conceptual frameworks and methodologies. It seeks to understand the forms of exclusion and discrimination faced by disadvantaged groups and their consequences on human development deprivation.
